Tigania: a night under the stars

A night at Tigania beach in Halkidiki, photographing the Milky Way with three fellow astrophotographers.

In an age of bright lights and constant motion, all an astrophotographer asks for is a little peace, a beautiful landscape and… plenty of darkness. On Saturday, 9 April, I travelled with three fellow astrophotographers to Tigania, a beautiful beach in Halkidiki.

A night spent looking at the stars never feels tiring, even when you stay up until morning. That night, we photographed the centre of the Milky Way for the first time that year.

There were surprises, too: two fishermen seemed to have had similar plans for a night at the beach. It was a wonderful evening, one I will remember for a long time. Sadly, a clear, dark night sky is hard to find in the city.
